Braves Recalled Michael Reed And Designated For Assignment Danny Santana!

The Atlanta Braves today have recalled OF Michael Reed from Triple-A Gwinnett.

To make room for Reed the Braves have designated for assignment OF Danny Santana.

The made the announcement this afternoon on their twitter page.

Listed below is more information from Steve Adams from Major League Trade Rumors:

Santana has not had a good year for the Braves coming off the bench for the Braves this year.  He has spent time at the major league club and Triple-A Gwinnett.

Danny Santana’s stats for the Braves this year are listed below:

G: 15 | AB: 28 | H: 5 | HR: 0 | RBI: 2 | SB: 1 | BB: 3 | K: 11 | AVG: .179 | OBP: .281 | SLG: .286 | OPS: .567.

Michael Reed has had a great year at the minor league level.  He has been at Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Braves earlier this season called up Reed for one game.  He did not make an appearance and was optioned back to Gwinnett.

Here are Michael Reed’s stats this year at the minor league level:

G: 80 | AB: 264 | R: 56 | H: 90 | HR: 10 | RBI: 31 | SB: 9 | BB: 54 | K: 83 | AVG: .341 | OBP: .462 | SLG: .542 | OPS: 1.003.

Atlanta Braves NewsOnly time will tell how long Michael Reed will stay with the big league club.

The Braves might consider playing Reed in LF and Ronald Acuna Jr to CF when they are facing a left handed pitcher.

Ender Inciarte is not having a good year against left handed pitchers.

Also this might be an opportunity for other teams to get a good look at Reed.

He could be used in a trade for a relief pitcher or starting pitcher before the trading deadline at the end of this month.

About Bob Griggs

I became an Atlanta Braves Fan in the spring of 1974. I was in first grade and Hank Aaron was chasing Babe Ruth for the all-time home run king. Back in 1974 things were different than they are now. You could not just watch every game on television. Because of the event the networks would interrupt programming and show Hank Aaron batting until he broke the home run record. Since then I have always been an Atlanta Braves Fan.
