Diamondbacks Rally To Beat Braves 2-1!

Atlanta Braves NewsThe first game of a three game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks was a pitchers duel.

Once again Anibal Sanchez had a great game.

His opponent Zack Godley also had a great game too.

Both pitchers final lines were just about identical.

Here is Anibal Sanchez final line IP: 6 | H: 5 | R: 1 | BB: 0 | K: 6 | HR: 0 | Pitches: 86 | Strikes: 53.

Sanchez also picked off a runner at second base.

The original call by the umpire was safe.

The Braves challenged the call and actually got a call overturned.

For the year the Braves success rate on challenges being overturned is 39.4% (13 of 33) according to Mark Bowman On Twitter.

The stat of the game has to be that the Braves were 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position!

That was the game.

The Braves offense only had six hits.

Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis both went 2 for 4.

Kurt Suzuki went 1 for 4 and Ronald Acuna Jr. went 1 for 3!

The Final Line Anibal Sanchez just did not get any run support!

With this loss the Braves record fall to 51-41!

The Braves have now fallen back behind the Phillies by 1.5 games in the NL East!

About Bob Griggs

I became an Atlanta Braves Fan in the spring of 1974. I was in first grade and Hank Aaron was chasing Babe Ruth for the all-time home run king. Back in 1974 things were different than they are now. You could not just watch every game on television. Because of the event the networks would interrupt programming and show Hank Aaron batting until he broke the home run record. Since then I have always been an Atlanta Braves Fan.
